EMMETT TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man could be facing drunk driving charges after he crashed his car on I-94 and then assaulted the first responders who were trying to help him.
It occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on westbound I-94 near the exit onto 11 Mile Road in Calhoun County’s Emmett Township.
The driver was reportedly speeding on the highway when he lost control and rolled his vehicle.
When deputies arrived they found the man injured inside of the vehicle, but when they tried to help the man got out and attacked them.
Two deputies had minor injuries as a result of the incident and the 39-year-old man from DeWitt was taken to the hospital and then taken into custody where he faces drunk driving and assault charges.
