EAST LANSING, MI –The East Lansing Police Department says a retired officer from their ranks will return to become the department’s new police chief.
Former police captain Kim Johnson is a 30 year veteran of the department and will return to take over as the new police chief beginning October 5.
Johnson’s appointment was announced in a press release on Tuesday night.
“It is an honor and a privilege to return to ELPD and lead the fine men and women in the department to an exciting future, while also serving our great community and enhancing community collaboration efforts with all stakeholders,” Johnson said in the release.
