PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage location of organic health food store Earth Fare will be reopening under new management soon.
According to a statement by the Hinman Company, the new owners of the location, the store will be refocusing on the mission and standards that were intended by its founders. The location closed earlier this year after a nationwide store closure and liquidation sale.
The Portage location is also the only one in the state of Michigan.
“Having the new ownership team at Earth Fare make it a top priority to reopen the Portage store as part of the initial restart is indicative of how strongly the healthy supermarket has been embraced by the community,” CEO of the Hinman Company Roger Hinman said in a statement.
The company is known for its organic fruit and vegetable products, and does not sell any meat with antibiotics or artificial ingredients.
According to the Hinman Company, Earth Fare also offers a “Food Boot List” of ingredients that will not be found in their stores.
“We are excited to return to Portage,” Earth Fare COO David Isinghood stated. “You will find many of the same trusted brands and house made specialties back in our store, and we are adding some new ones. We will be keeping our Food Philosophy and product standards at the forefront, we are expanding our craftsmanship and increasing our selection of Organic produce and local offerings.”
The company did not state an exact opening date, but WWMT reported Tuesday that the reopening is expected to open on the morning of Wednesday, September 23. A ribbon ceremony was reported to be taking place at 7:50 a.m. that morning.
Earth Fare was originally founded in 1975.
