BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Authorities are looking into the cause of an early morning garage fire at a home in Battle Creek.
Firefighters were dispatched to Cherrywood Lane off of Helmer Road South, not far from the Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field, around 3 a.m. Thursday where they found a small fire in the garage of the residence.
Officials say a majority of the blaze had self-extinguished before they arrived. No injuries were reported and the occupants safely evacuated.
The fire is deemed suspicious and the Battle Creek Police Department is investigating until the Battle Creek Fire Marshal can take over. No other details have been released at this time.
