KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Broncos Kitchen, a free hunger-relief charity for college students, announced Tuesday that it has partnered with Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry to fight food-insecurity at Western Michigan University (WMU) and Kalamazoo College.
Officials say the partnership will enable Broncos Kitchen to serve free dinners on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. starting September 10.
The free inaugural meal will consist of barbecue pork spareribs, fried chicken, vegetarian hamburgers, potato salad, garden salad, vegetarian baked beans, dessert and bottled water.
A valid student ID is required to participate. Students from WMU, K-College, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) are welcome to join.
Officials add that Jay Rustenholtz, a Western Michigan University alum, will be sponsoring Wednesday’s dinner with proceeds from his ice cream social fundraiser held on August 28.
Officials add that Broncos Kitchen is a Michigan-based private, nonprofit corporation, established to fight hunger on Kalamazoo’s college campuses. Residents can support the charity by making a tax-deductible donation online at http://www.broncoskitchen.org/
Donations can also be made by mailing a check or money order to Broncos Kitchen, P.O. Box 2632, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49003.
Dinners are limited to one per student. The meal site will be located at 2350 Ring Road North.
