DOWAGIAC, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A report of animal hoarding led Dowagiac authorities to a residence on Lester Street where they discovered 79 animals there.
Officers said that it did appear that the animals, which included rabbits, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and several birds, were healthy and had been fed well, but were living in poor conditions.
The owner of the house, a 37-year-old man, could face charges of animal abuse and hoarding.
The Cass County prosecutor’s office has received the case and is evaluating it.
