WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – President Trump is pushing for the Big Ten conference to resume fall sports amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking with reporters, Trump said he spoke with Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren and he is “pushing very hard” to have football go on. Trump said the biggest headwind is that Democrats don’t want to see it happen.
The Big Ten announced August 11, 2020 it would move its football season from fall to spring semester because of health risks associated with the pandemic.
A court filing disclosed Monday shows Big Ten Conference presidents voted 11 to 3 to postpone the football season.
