VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a second parole absconder has been arrested. The brother of the suspect had been arrested for violating parole the day before.
On Monday, August 31, police arrested 48-year-old Charles Walter White after receiving tips about his location in Lawrence Township. He was arrested after being located in woods by a K-9 unit.
He was booked on charges of felony warrant and for resisting and obstructing police, and further charges may be issued.
However, police announced Tuesday that the day before White’s arrest, his brother Eric had been arrested as well. Police say Eric White was wanted for absconding parole, and citizen tips put him in the area of Lawton.
On Sunday, police say that Eric White fled a vehicle after an attempted traffic stop. After establishing a perimeter and awaiting the arrival of a K-9 unit, police received a tip that Eric White was hiding in a garage in the 300 Block of Union Street.
After surrounding the garage, White surrendered and was taken into custody.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is now thanking the area community members for helping keep them informed with tips.
