KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are searching for a suspect who attempted to set a home on fire and fired several gunshots on the city’s Northside.
Authorities were called to the 1300 block of Princeton Avenue near West Paterson Street around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a residential structure fire, but luckily the first responding officer was able to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher before it extended into the home.
It was later learned that a suspect in a vehicle fired several gunshots and then an incendiary device was thrown onto the porch of the residence starting the fire.
No injuries were reported and there is no suspect information at this time. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety’s Fire Marshal’s Office and Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident.
This comes less than five hours after shots were fired less than a mile away, injuring a victim on East Paterson Street near Harrison Street Tuesday night.
Anyone with more information should contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-337-8120 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
