ROTHBURY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Attendees of an event that took place after the cancellation of a major electronic music festival in Michigan may have been exposed to the coronavirus.
The Kalamazoo County Health Department announced that a county resident tested positive for COVID-19 and also attended the “Sherwood Forest Appreciation Weekend” in Oceana County.
The event took place at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury June 25th through the 28th, the same dates the Electric Forest music festival would’ve happened if it wasn’t canceled due to coronavirus concerns. However, the event was not associated nor affiliated with the festival.
The District Health Department #10, which covers Oceana County, is now warning attendees that due to the crowded conditions and challenges for proper social distancing at the event, it has been deemed a public exposure site for COVID-19.
The Facebook page for the event stated, “Please be aware, we at the Double JJ Resort, take your safety as well as the safety of our staff and the surrounding communities, very seriously and will be adhering to all local, state and federal guidelines including social distancing.”
Those who attended the event are now being asked to self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days and keep away from family and close contacts if possible.
Some common symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Muscle aches
- Sore throat
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Recent loss of taste or smell
Anyone experiencing symptoms should contact their local health department immediately.
