ROTHBURY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Plans are not looking good for a major electronic music festival in west Michigan’s Oceana County.
On Thursday the Rothbury Village Council rejected a request to reschedule the 10th annual Electric Forest Music Festival from June to September, due to concerns over COVID-19.
About 45,000 people attend the festival each year, which is set to take place June 25th through the 28th at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury.
However, the rejection to move it does not mean it’s canceled just yet.
In a statement on Twitter, officials with the festival said, “At this time, the Rothbury Village Council is not able to approve alternate dates for this year. We are exploring all our options, and will provide you with updates as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience and support while we work through this news.”
