HICKORY CORNERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — North America’s largest auto museum is planning its reopening, with extra safety precautions in place.
The Gilmore Car Museum, located on West Hickory Road in Barry County’s Hickory Corners, will open again to the public on June 12th.
The museum has been closed for about three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, things won’t be completely back to normal. Face masks will be required inside of the exhibit buildings and they are highly encouraged within the museum’s 90 acre campus. Strict social distancing will be in place and there will also be reduced capacity.
All hands-on, educational actives like the free antique car rides and the Model T Driving Experience are postponed for the time being.
In a written statement, the museum’s President Jeff Romig stated, “We are so excited to welcome everyone back. So much has happened in three months it feels more like three years! I’m confident that as much as everyone is ready to get out of the house and enjoy the car hobby, our quests will do their part to keep everyone safe while renewing old acquaintances and enjoying all that the museum has to offer.”
