KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Students at Western Michigan University (WMU) who are having trouble with feeding themselves may find relief in a new partnership program on campus.
WMU Dining Services has announced that they are now working together with the Invisible Needs Project in order to help students who have trouble with feeding themselves.
By itself, the Invisible Needs Project is a program on campus that allows students access to a food pantry every two weeks. Now, the pantry is getting a boost thanks to donations from WMU Dining Services.
Dining officials say that around 40 containers of unused meals are donated weekly to the Invisible Needs Project, all of which help students with basic nutrition.
Currently, meals are donated from the kitchen of the Bernhard Center. The program was started around four weeks ago, and if the success continues, other kitchens on campus may contribute as well.
