KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A vigil was held in Kalamazoo over the weekend to honor the victims of gun violence, including one young woman whose life was taken at a local college.
On Sunday afternoon, a crowd gathered at Galilee Baptist Church on North Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo to remember those they lost, and the families who are still living with the impact.
This was the sixth annual service to remember those who were the victims of gun violence, with some attending being the survivors of such incidents themselves.
Among those there were the loved ones of Maggie Wardle, who died while attending Kalamazoo College in 1999 when her ex-boyfriend shot her and then took his own life.
Individuals and families affected by similar tragedies where honored in the ceremony, with those leading it saying their goal is to end gun violence for good.
