BERRIEN SPRINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Indiana Michigan Power has announced a large investment into electricity upgrades for both Berrien Springs and Eau Claire, MI.
The investment comes in the form of about $62 million across both areas. According to a statement from the company, the investment plan will include the following:
- Building the Blossom Trail Substation in Eau Claire
- Building approximately ½ mile of transmission line to connect the new Blossom Trail Substation to existing lines
- Upgrading transmission lines from 34.5 kiloVolts (kV) to 69-kV standards to help enhance energy reliability in the area
- Replacing Berrien Springs Substation with the new Boxer Substation in Berrien Springs
The company will also be rebuilding around 4 miles of power lines in certain areas. Officials will remain in contact with all homeowners as needed.
Officials say that all construction involved is expected to be finished by the end of 2020.
