KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Detroit man is in custody for a series of thefts in Kalamazoo’s Westwood Neighborhood.
27-year-old Blair Parker, who recently moved to Kalamazoo, was charged with two counts of first degree home invasion, two counts of larceny in a building, and three counts of larceny from a motor vehicle after a rash of purse snatchings and other crimes in the past few weeks.
He is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
Parker is also being detained on a parole violation for his original charge of carjacking from Wayne County.
In a statement, the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department thanked the community “who provided numerous tips and information which ultimately led investigators to the identification and arrest of the suspect who has preyed upon the Westwood community.”
If convicted, Parker could face up to 20 years and/or $5,000 fine for the home invasion charge, up to 4 years and/or $5,000 fine for the building larceny charges, and up to 5 years and/or $10,000 fine for the vehicle break ins.
