KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Four Kalamazoo Public Schools are closed Monday November 11th due to online threats.
Officials released a statement early Monday morning saying that Hillside Middle School, Linden Grove Middle School, and Kalamazoo Central High School are all closed due to social media posts threatening violence at the schools.
This comes after they announced Sunday that Loy Norrix High School would also be closed due to the same threat.
The threats are apparently “copycat messages” from the Loy Norrix post.
Michigan State Police, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers, and Kalamazoo Township Police are all working to track down who made the threats and investigate to see if they were credible.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says at this time, the threats have not been deemed credible and those involved could be held criminally responsible in addition to school consequences.
There will also be an additional police presence at Loy Norrix High School, Kalamazoo Central High School, Hillside Middle School, and Linden Grove Middle School as well as throughout the Kalamazoo Public School district on Tuesday.
Anyone with information on the threats should contact Kalamazoo Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
