PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Portage have announced that an armed robbery suspect has pleaded guilty in a case that took place in January this year.
As a result, Marcus Anthony Lambert will be charged with one count of armed robbery. His plea deal will also call for the dismissal of other charges, including one home invasion charge.
His trial will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 6th, and is currently scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13 in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court.
One of Lambert’s two alleged accomplices has also been arrested. James Michael Simmons was originally issued a warrant for his suspected involvement in the case in April. or his possible role in the robbery.
He was found in Stuttgart, Arkansas last month and is currently being extradited back to Michigan.
The incident in question took place at the 2200 block of Kiwi Court. Lambert and an accomplice, allegedly Simmons, approached an apartment and rang a buzzer. They forced their way inside when the door was answered, making off with cash and other items.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
