PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Not sure what to do with all of that candy? Trade it in for cash, and for a good cause.
Susan M. Dennis Dentistry in Portage is doing their 9th annual candy buyback program to “keep kids’ smiles cavity-free while sending treats to troops deployed overseas.”
Dr. Dennis will pay $1 per pound for new, wrapped candy and the collected sweets will be donated to the non-profit Operation Gratitude.
Operation Gratitude puts together care packages that are sent to troops over the holidays. It’s also given to their children who are left behind, and donated to wounded warriors in military medical care.
There is also an area in the dentist office where participants can write letters to the troops, thanking them for their dedication to serve.
They’ll be buying back candy from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. November 1st and from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. November 4th. Their office is on Moorsbridge Road off of West Centre Avenue.
All donors will also be eligible to win an iPod touch from Dr. Dennis.
