BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN) – A Battle Creek man has been charged with murder in connection with last weekend’s shooting death of Elijah Williams.
22-year-old Xavier Kellie-Sims is being held without bond in the Calhoun County Jail pending an arraignment on charges of open murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He was arrested Monday for assault with a dangerous weapon.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the charge was authorized by County Prosecutor David Gilbert after he met with detectives.
Williams died early last Saturday morning while he attended a party on West Northside Drive. Police say he was caught in the crossfire when an argument led to gunfire.
