HARTFORD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The wet and windy conditions are causing some problems for residents in Van Buren County and those along the lakeshore.
Authorities were called to a home in the 200 block of North Center Street in Hartford Tuesday night after a tree fell on the home and took out a gas line and power lines.
Nearby residents lost power and some were evacuated as crews worked to fix the gas line break.
County dispatchers say everything was repaired and restored Wednesday morning.
It’s also expected to be a dangerous day along Lake Michigan.
A Lakeshore Flood Warning and a High Wind Advisory is in effect throughout the day Wednesday for counties along the lakeshore.
The National Weather Service says wind gusts could get up to 50mph, creating waves 10 to 14-feet high along the shores of Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior.
More beach erosion is expected and residents on or near the shore should stay away from the piers throughout the day.
