KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo woman is being indicted on federal charges for a string of bank robberies in the Kalamazoo area.
51-year-old Earlisa Johnson was charged on Wednesday for 4-counts of robbery of a financial institution and 1-count of attempted robbery.
Johnson admitted to robbing the Omni Credit Union on East Cork Street on May 7th, the Fifth Third Bank on Portage Street on August 16th and September 5th, the Huntington Bank on West Main Street on August 19th, and then attempting to rob the Advia Credit Union on West Main on September 5th.
A filed criminal complaint says she got away with more than $6500, never implied she had a weapon, never hurt anyone, and in one incident, said “please” as she asked the bank teller to put the money in the bag.
Johnson wore a mask and gloves in all 4 robberies and was arrested on September 11th.
If convicted, Johnson could serve up to 20-years for each charge on top of several fines.
