KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A forum is taking place in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood Tuesday evening to give residents a better idea of who could be their next Mayor and City Commissioners.
There are 4 people vying for Mayor: David Anderson, David Benac, Esteven Juarez, and Corey Smith. Longtime Mayor Bobby Hopewell announced last year that he will not be seeking reelection.
8 candidates are also running for 3-open seats on the City Commission: Jacob Andrews, Andrew Argo, Emily Demorest, Patrese Griffin (incumbent), Jeanne Hess, Pete Kushner, Chris J. Praedel and Benjamin Hayden Stanley.
Forum organizers will be asking the candidate’s questions from 6 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.
It will take place at the Edison Neighborhood Association on Washington Avenue, with the city commission portion from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and the mayoral candidate forum from 7:45 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.
Several other candidate forums will take place throughout October.
