CENTREVILLE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a stolen vehicle was recovered in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police say that at 3:42 a.m. Monday morning, a traffic stop was made just outside of Centreville for an equipment violation.
While speaking with the driver, it was discovered that the vehicle had just been stolen from the St. Joseph County Fair Grounds in Centreville.
The owner was then contacted, who confirmed that the car had been unlocked with the keys inside.
Police arrested the suspect afterwards for Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile. The suspect is described as a 54-year-old Sturgis resident.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to remove keys and secure locks when not using a vehicle.
