PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Portage are reporting that a suspect has been arrested in an Arson case.
Around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, emergency services responded to a fire in the 700 block of Gladys Street in the Walnut Trails apartment complex.
The fire was set in a hallway and caused damage to a door and wall of one apartment. Although some tenants had to be evacuated from different floors by ladder, no injuries were reported.
The suspect of several incidents at the apartment complex was believed to be responsible for setting the fire.
Around 8 p.m. Sunday, police arrested 37-year-old Darryl Wayne Corley of Alamo in Portage on a charge of 1st Degree Arson. Corley is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail with a bond set at $500,000 cash surety.
The case remains under investigation at this time.
