KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo City Commission is accepting a $1.6 million dollar grant to help neighboring cities that are affected by PFAS contamination.
The City had previously applied for the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy Drinking Water Contaminant Remediation Grant, and was officially awarded it in late June.
The grant is meant to provide water to affected areas like Parchment and Richland Township, which have had their drinking water contaminated in the last year.
Residents in Parchment and Cooper Townships now rely on Kalamazoo for their drinking water, while some residents outside of the city still use home-installed filters.
