VAN BUREN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A 30-year-old from Decatur is spending the weekend, maybe longer, in the Van Buren County Jail after the wanted fugitive tried to outrun Deputies near Paw Paw and got caught with drugs.
Deputies tried to pull him over after a traffic violation on M-51 in Paw Paw Township, but he took off, and after a brief chase, went out of control trying to make the turn at 40th street and crashed into a front yard.
The suspect fled on foot but didn’t get far before he was chased down.
They discovered he was already wanted on outstanding warrants for dangerous drugs and resisting charges.
He will likely face new drug charges after they found a baggie of methamphetamines hidden in his sock and charged with fleeing and eluding.
