OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two Go Fund Me efforts are underway for the family of murdered 14-year-old Troy “T.J.” Wells, to help them deal with the funeral and related expenses. He lived in Ottawa County with his single mom and his sister.
One is under the name “Support T.J. Wells Memorial Fund,” aimed at raising $5,000 and has, since being started Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, raised $1,300 by the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019. The other, started by another family friend, is called “Memorial for Troy TJ Wells Jr.,” and has a $10,000 goal. The two page organizers tell WHTC they were unaware of the other’s page and will coordinate the effort.
“We are heartbroken and completely devastated. No parent or sibling should have to bury their child or younger brother,” part of the text on the page reads, going on to thank “everyone who has reached out to the family we appreciate all your prayers, kind words and messages. It means the world to us to know that T.J. was loved immensely by so many.” Funeral services are set for T.J. Wells on Sunday Feb. 24, 2019. at Maple Avenue Ministries in Holland, with visitation at 2 p.m.and services at 3 p.m.
Police continue looking for his alleged killer, Juan Sandro Cabrera, 18, of Holland, who is considered armed and dangerous.
