VOLINIA TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A Dowagiac man may have survived a head on collision with a tree thanks to his seat belts. Cass County Deputies say they responded Saturday morning to a report of a crash along Marcellus Highway near Goodenough Road.
They say the SUV left the roadway and struck the tree at about 7:15 am.
25-year old driver Roberto Reyna was able to tell them before he was loaded into an ambulance, for a trip to the hospital for treatment that he believes he fell asleep at the wheel.
Deputies say alcohol was not a factor.
