GRAND JUNCTION (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman living alone in rural home in Allegan County’s Cassco Township is being treated at Bronson Hospital’s Burn Unit in Kalamazoo after her home exploded around her in a fireball right around 12:30 Sunday afternoon.
No other information about the woman was released.
The explosion and subsequent fire at 6016 104th Avenue leveled the isolated home.
They suspect a propane leak was responsible for a build-up of the flammable gas in the home, which could have been triggered by any spark.
The woman was pulled from the charred debris and rushed to Kalamazoo by ambulance.
South Haven Area Emergency Services was backed up by fire crews from four area townships, but there was little left to save after the explosion.
