KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A small “Fyre Festival” scam is apparently happening in Kalamazoo County.
WOOD TV-8 is reporting that a music festival called “Meeting of the Minds” is scheduled for May 25th at a farm near Augusta and the lineup includes artists that are topping the rap music world like Cardi-B and Drake .
However, neither one of them, or any of the other artists listed are scheduled to be in Kalamazoo that day.
The owners of the property have even said that they have not been approached by anyone and even if they were they would not agree to use their land in that way.
The festival poster also shows local sponsors like the Radisson and Bell’s Brewery, who both have not agreed to be part of the event.
A couple of other red flags are that the website comes up as “not secure,” the poster claims that there will be 100K in gift card giveaways, and the festival doesn’t have any official social media sites, instead the Facebook page directs you to the creator of the so-called festival.
The promoter claims that he has already sold 1700 tickets at $130-dollars a pop.
