KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — It looks like after a frosty but green Christmas morning we might see a few flakes of snow, maybe not but no White Christmas.
Maybe not ideal but it will certainly be safer for those making trips to visit family members on this holiday. We may want to cherish and enjoy every White Christmas we get.
Environmental forecasters say in less than a lifetime, white Christmas’s, and any snow in the winter months in Michigan may be a thing of the past because of global warming.
Western Michigan University Biology professor Dr. David Karowe compiled a list of predictions about what the Great Lakes region will be like in the year 2100 if the Paris Agreement on climate change is not implemented.
He says we will see warmer winters, and hotter summers, with less frequent but more severe rain storms.
He says if we continue along the current path, Michigan will have a year-long climate like current-day Oklahoma, but with the Paris Agreement it will be more like southern Illinois.
