WAYLAND (WKZO AM/FM) — The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the Grand Rapids man who died after a series of unusual and unfortunate events along U.S. 131 last Friday.
They believe 24-year-old Roky Ines Vasquez-Vasquez crashed along the divided highway just after 2 am and they abandoned the vehicle.
Three hours later a man reported striking what he thought was a deer along U.S. 131, but the deer could not be found.
A little over three hours after that, just before 9am, there was a report of a man lying along the highway just north of the Wayland Exit.
That’s when an EMS crew found the body of Vasquez-Vasquez, who had suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
He was wearing dark clothing that would have made him difficult to see in the dark.
The driver is cooperating with deputies who say the investigation on going while they wait for test results.
