DECATUR (WKZO AM/FM) — Charges may be brought against an under aged driver who may have been drinking before he was involved in a fiery wreck in Decatur Township.
The 19-year-old driver and his 20-year-old passenger both managed to get out of the vehicle before it was consumed by flames.
Van Buren County Deputies say the car went off 39th Street near 76th Avenue at about 2:30 Saturday morning and slammed into a tree and then bounced back onto the roadway, where it started to burn.
The two occupants of the car were both from Berrien Springs.
The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at Ascension Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac. The passenger was not injured.
Investigators will wait for blood test results before deciding whether to pursue charges.
