HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Township resident Elijah Saucedo, 12, started his Christmas break with an ambulance trip to the hospital after a hit-and-run traffic crash, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wildfong.
Police later arrested an 18-year-old Holland Township woman — her name is being withheld — and are asking Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office to charge her, Wildfong said.
The crash happened in a parking lot at Harbor Lights Middle School, 1024 136th Ave., when the boy was felled by a silver SUV that did not stop, Wildfong said.
Police used school surveillance camera footage to identify the vehicle, then tracked down the driver, he said.
Saucedo went by AMR Ambulance to the hospital with what Wildfong called non-life-threatening injuries. Family friends indicated he was treated for a broken ankle.
