KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo City Attorney Clyde Robinson says their Amnesty Day program was successful at clearing the city’s court dockets of dozens of pending cases.
Many walked away with their cases settled, and the rest with new court dates.
Some were given delayed sentences that would only take effect if the offender was able to get through a period of probation without another violation. In some cases, they were dismissed outright.
Between the city and the county, they expedited 153 criminal and civil cases in one day.
Robinson says they may do it again someday and if they do, they will invite Portage, Comstock, Oshtemo and other govermentst to join them.
