KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is in custody and authorities believe he may be a major drug supplier for the area.
The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team has been tracking a spike in heroin related overdoses in the area which led them to the Concord Place Apartments in Oshtemo.
They set up an undercover operation and obtained a search warrant for one of the apartments where they discovered over 60 doses of heroin, marijuana, large amounts of money, and other evidence of the heroin related overdoses.
23-year-old Kevin Jones was charged with delivery, possession and for operating a drug house.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Captain Brad Misner says they will see if they can continue to climb the ladder to find his source and go after anyone else who may be selling what they call “hot heroin.”
The KVET anti-drug unit says they put a special emphasis on tracking the source to stop the recent spike in overdoses.
