CASS COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman is recovering from injuries after a fiery crash in Cass County.
Cass County Sheriff deputies say 31-year-old Trisha Smith of Dowagiac was driving on Dewey Lake Street near Roth Road in Wayne Township just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when her vehicle left the roadway.
She struck a tree, causing her car to overturn and catch on fire.
Crews pulled her from the burning car and she was rushed to Borgess Lee Hospital where she was later transported by helicopter to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Her condition has not been released.
Investigators say she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it’s currently unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role.
