BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek man is heading to prison for his role in the abuse and torture of an autistic preschooler.
Isaac Miller will spend 3 to 10 years behind bars, cutting a deal with prosecutors and pleading no contest to second degree child abuse.
Miller is the boyfriend of mother Megan Schug who was convicted earlier of first degree child abuse and ordered to serve 25 to 50 years in prison.
The two were accused of abusing 4-year-old Maloyd Gaines, forcing him to live in a closet, beaten and starved, and officials were worried he wouldn’t survive.
The foster mother of the child gave a victim impact statement discussing the brutal injuries the boy suffered and his difficult recovery.
