VICKSBURG (WKZO AM/FM) — Security has been beefed up at Vicksburg Schools this week after a second student was arrested Wednesday for making threats of violence.
This time it was a middle school student who actually made the verbal threat two weeks before the Parkland shootings in Florida. It was those deaths that prompted someone to finally report the incident.
The first arrest occurred about two weeks ago, when a high school student made a threat on social media.
School officials determined after an investigation of both students that neither threat was credible, but just the act of making the threat is a crime under anti-terrorism statutes.
Meanwhile, Otsego High School student Peter Trudelle is due in court Thursday for a hearing for allegedly saying he wanted to perpetrate an assault that would be worse than the shootings at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida to other students on a bus.
