BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police say three people are in custody after a home invasion and a report of a missing child.
Authorities received a call just after midnight on Wednesday from a 23-year-old woman asking for help finding her 1-year-old child, saying that the child’s father may have brought him from Georgia and back to Michigan.
The police checked a home in the 200 block of North McKinley Avenue for the child, but had no luck. About 7 hours later they returned to the same residence to find two women, one being the child’s mother, breaking into the home to find the father.
The 24-year-old father fled the residence with a firearm and stole the mother’s vehicle.
Battle Creek police caught the father and took him to custody on weapon and theft charges while the two women were also taken for home invasion.
The child was located and turned over to Child Protective Services.
