KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Two local non-profits are doing their part to help flood victims in Kalamazoo County.
The United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region and the Kalamazoo Community Foundation are starting a Kalamazoo Flood Relief Fund totaling $20,000 to fund programs working to help flood victims.
CEO and President of the local United Way Chris Sargent says donors can go to changethestory.org and type in “Kalamazoo Flood Relief Fund” in the affiliation line to help fund local flood relief projects.
In addition officials with the City of Kalamazoo are hosting an after flood meeting Wednesday to discuss the impact of the rising waters in Kalamazoo last month.
Public Services Director James Baker and other officials will provide information on flood insurance, disposal of flood-damaged items, the assessment process, and the clean-up phase.
The meeting will be at the City Hall Commission Chamber on West South Street Wednesday evening from 6pm to 8pm and all are welcome.
