KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — After a month of severe winter weather and the spread of the flu the American Red Cross is in a desperate need for donors.
The non-profit says about 600 blood drives were forced to cancel this year due to illness or weather, causing over 17,500 blood and platelet donations to go uncollected.
Blood drives are being held throughout Southwest Michigan this week to help with the shortage.
Donors can go to the Westwood United Methodist Church on Nichols Road Monday from noon until 5:45pm or the American Red Cross on Venture Court Thursday from noon until 5:45pm to give blood.
