PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — A thief who tried to take a car from the driveway of a home in the 5600 block of Lovers Lane probably had second thoughts and abandoned the vehicle a block away, after the owner came running out of her home and tried to get in the passenger side as the man was backing out of the driveway.
She was dragged for a short distance, scraping her knees on the pavement.
She then called 911.
It happened just after 1:00 early Sunday morning.
The woman said she noticed a dark colored SUV cruising the neighborhood and then saw a young black male, wearing all black attempting to steal her car.
A neighbor spotted the car abandoned down the street.
A K-9 Track by the County Sheriff’s Department was attempted but failed.
