KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s been confirmed by Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley that the three children who were involved in a tragic collision at North and Rose Friday morning were not properly restrained.
That’s why two infants were ejected from their mother’s mini-van and one of them, Dasani Lynn Colbert was fatally injured. Her twin sister was admitted in critical condition.
No information about the other driver involved has been released.
Their mother, Minion Clopton appeared distraught as she attended a vigil at the intersection last night. She and a third child suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Well over 100 people turned out for the vigil for the family.
They returned to the intersection of Rose and North where the crash occurred, and where a spontaneous memorial of balloons, pictures and stuffed animals has been left to remember the one year old girl who died. Last evening a Pastor prayed and called on the community to help the family in its time of need.
Clopton was driving her three children to her mother’s house where they usually spent the day while she worked. 1 year old Desani Lynn Colbert was killed and her twin sister critically injured when their mini-van collided with a sedan at the intersection. Which driver was at fault is still being investigated by Public Safety.
