CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — For years it was Calhoun County that was taking Lorinda Swain to court, prosecuting her for a crime she did not commit, challenging her appeals over and over.
Now that she has won her freedom, Swain is taking Calhoun County to Court and suing the estate of Detective Guy Picketts who she claims withheld vital testimony that could have prevented her from going to prison in the first place.
Swain, of Burlington Township, spent 8 years in prison and 7 more years on a tether during appeals because her adopted son made up claims that he later recanted.
She is asking for compensation and punitive damages in Federal Court.
