KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — It’s another first for Metro Transit in Kalamazoo.
The Kalamazoo County Central Transportation Authority has been providing Sunday service with their Metro County Connect door-to-door system for several months now.
On Sunday, they will begin line-haul service with their big buses for the first time ever on 18 of their routes in the metro area.
System Spokesman Larry Zuiderveen said riders have been asking for the service.
Buses will run one an hour between 8:15 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on the following routes: Westnedge, Portage, West Michigan, Oakland, East Main, Parchment, Alamo, Egleston, Gull, Comstock, Stadium, South Burdick, West Main, Paterson, Lovell, West Centre and Romence.
It’s part of a much larger expansion of service that kicked off this week to provide bus runs two hours later at night during the weekdays and to add more frequent service on the system’s busiest routes.
