KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Testimony resumes Wednesday in the trial of a former Portage Public Schools employee charged with having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
Corey McNeal, 40, was the gym teacher at Central Elementary and also the former head coach of the boys’ basketball team at Portage Central High School.
McNeal has been charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts involving possession and distribution of child sexually abusive material.
He resigned from his positions as soon as he was charged last December.
A jury was picked Tuesday in Kalamazoo Circuit Court. He could get up to 15 years if convicted of the most serious charge he faces.
