KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety says they will be working together with the Western Michigan University Department of Public Safety to provide community policing to the Arcadia and Knollwood neighborhoods directly to the west of the WMU campus.
A university police officer has been assigned the job, working in a part of town that has over 12,000 residents — many of whom are students.
The task of the officer will be to build a relationship with residents and students, to head off problems before they develop and to coordinate prevention efforts.
