ORIGINAL STORY:
BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Battle Creek police need your help to locate the suspect in Wednesday’s attempted bombing and arson at the Consumers Energy substation on Elm Street.
They are looking for 37-year-old Joshua James Buchanan of Albion. He is 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and a hospital-style identification bracelet. Police say they believe he tossed what amounted to an oversized Molotov cocktail over a fence under a critical portion of the facility.
The two plastic gas containers did not ignite from the crude fuse he had attached.
Investigators say he then flicked cigarettes at it, trying to get it to ignite and that also failed.
An employee later spotted the two gas containers and called police.
Buchanan was a suspect in a series of burglaries in Albion in February of last year. Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer at (269) 964-3888.
